Superliga ArgentinaWeekly – Argentina Betting Tips & Analysis
We have freshened up the format a little this week with our focus on the the Superliga Argentina.
1. The Battle Of The Wounded
This weekend Gimnasia de la Plata and Newell’s will face each other, two teams that have something very negative in common. Both have had the highest number of injured players so far this season, as both have more than eight players injured at the same time. Among the most important injured list are Cristian Tarragona and Germán Guiffrey in Gimnasia, while in Newell’s we can find Cristian Lema and Ramiro Macagno.
This has caused a buzz on social media, with fans of both teams calling for a new medical staff and new fitness trainers to be hired, blaming the current management for the number of injuries they have suffered.
Both teams started the league at the top of the table, but Gimnasia have been the only one of the two teams to overcome this adversity, which has taken them to the first place sharing the spot alongside Atletico Tucuman. Newell’s, meanwhile, find themselves in mid-table and lost their coach the last matchday.
2. He Forced Them To Hire Him
Much has been said about the contractual situation of Boca goalkeeper Agustin Rossi, and today we will tell you what happened. His contract expires in June 2023 so he got together with the board of directors to extend it, the salary demanded by the goalkeeper was too high so he could not reach an agreement with the directors, who decided to end the negotiation and then hired the former goalkeeper of the Argentine national team and Manchester United Sergio Romero. Everyone expected Agustin to be relegated until the end of his contract and Sergio to take his place in the starting eleven, but a minor injury to the latter meant that Rossi had to play three more games than planned.
In this extra time Agustin had the best performances of his career, being of vital importance for the team. All the fans on the stadium were screaming for the situation to be reconsidered and for them to negotiate with him again so that he could stay at the club, and after so much insistence they succeeded in their demand.
This week the management said they would resume negotiations to calm the fans, so we will have to wait and see if they can finally reach a monetary agreement.

3. Where Will He Go?
One of the most relevant coaches of the last few years in the country has been Sebastian Becaccece, a coach who is known for his offensive and high pressure game, who has had periods in very important clubs in the Argentinean league such as Independiente and Racing. This past year he signed a new contract with the club where he started coaching, Defensa y Justicia, and due to the fact that the team sold several of its stars he could not get the expected results and had a disappointing year.
As a result of this, the coach has declared that he will resign from his current position this coming Thursday after his team’s match against Argentinos Juniors. Being such a relevant coach in the country he is wanted by many teams, among the main ones that are looking to hire him are Newell’s and Boca, who are currently without a coach, it will be a matter of time to see what the future holds for him.
Game Of The Week: Boca Juniors vs River Plate
THE SUPERCLASICO IS HERE, finally the most important game in the country has arrived, and it finds both teams in similar moments, since both are with the same amount of points in the table and are five points away from the first place, this means that it is a key game to see who still has a chance to win the championship.
Both are coming from winning their games last week, and both are undefeated in seven games. Boca will be the home team and will have the support of their fans. As we said before, the defeated team will have practically no chance to fight for the title, so it will be played as an absolute final.
Boca has not had the best of weeks, apart from winning a very difficult game against Colon, they have the bad news that two of their best players have been injured, Sebastian Villa and Marcos Rojo. If we add to this the injury of Exequiel Zeballos two weeks ago, Boca has lost three of its best players.
On the other hand, River is in a similar situation, since its most important player, Pablo Solari, who scored 5 goals in the last 6 games, came out with a problem in one of his adductors, and the medical studies indicated that he suffered a small tear, which with 95% certainty will leave him out of the game. The player said that he does not want to miss it and that he will do his best to make it, even if this means playing injured, we will see what happens. On the other hand, Armani suffered a muscle discomfort that sidelined him from the last game, but he is expected to be 100%.
We will see an exciting match, in which both teams will decide if they had a good year or not based on a single result. We see River coming in much better shape so they are our favorite to win the match, but we can’t forget that Boca is playing at home and it will be a hard fought game.
The only thing we hope is that the match is not tainted by a bad refereeing decision or that the referee benefits one team more than the other, which unfortunately is more than usual in Argentine soccer.
